Pitti Uomo + Paris Fashion Week

The world’s favorite trend-setters in men’s fashion

Buyers, journalists, and brands assembled in Florence in December for the menswear fair Pitti Uomo. The tradeshow has been gaining popularity over the past few years with its number of exhibitors increasing to 1,200+ for this edition. As proof of the Tuscan fair’s growing allure, Corneliani and shoemaker Fratelli Rossetti have jumped ship from Milan Fashion Week’s schedule.

One-off events held in historic buildings across the city also drew in big crowds. In the 14th century Palazzo della Mercanzia, Florentine-born Gucci opened Gucci Garden,  an immersive fusion of  experiential museum, cinema, restaurant, and exclusive retail spaces with an admission charge.

Subsequently, an exciting line-up of marquee menswear brands and smaller labels proves that Paris Fashion Week is still a big deal. Many buyers are headed to Maison & Objet, one of Europe’s biggest design shows. The fashion pack, meanwhile, is running between shows across the city, starting with Sacai before continuing on to Études and Dior Homme. Yet many buyers will be sticking around Le Marais, visiting intimate showrooms dedicated to up-and-coming designers.
